Meal Breaks Breach of our Certified Agreement
The AEAWA are seeking clarification on what we believe is a breach of the Certified Agreement Clause 24. Meal Breaks.
We have been alerted by members recently (ironically) from a misdirected AmbiCad message to the Metropolitan crews) that officers working in the Country are being notified that they have been allocated a break ‘during the shift’. There has been no directive communicated to them during the allotted 5-hour window of opportunity. They have been retrospectively notified of a meal break allocation at the back end of their shift.
According to our own SOP, this is not an acceptable process as our Agreement states ‘a crew must be informed of their meal break has started and to avoid disruption AmbiCad message will be sent to the crews in Station’.
