IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING COLD-CALLING PRACTICES

By 19 March 2025No Comments
It has been brought to our attention that UWU are cold-calling AEAWA members seeking to understand employees’ positions in relation to industrial action. We would like to remind our members that UWU provided in-principle agreement to the EBA offer which was overwhelmingly rejected by 90% of the workforce in the recent vote.
This approach appears to be an attempt to regain relevance after endorsing an offer that the vast majority of employees did not support. It’s concerning that a union with diminishing membership would make promises or claims about industrial strength when they have limited obligation to deliver an actual outcome for members.
The timing of these calls, immediately following the State Election, is also noteworthy.
In contrast, the AEAWA has a genuine responsibility to our members to achieve a workable and realistic agreement. We are considering all available options, including continued negotiation, Fair Work Commission mediation, arbitration, or industrial action if necessary.
While industrial action remains on the table, we recognise it carries potential impacts including financial consequences for our members. Rather than taking reactive steps to gain attention, we remain committed to a considered, reasoned and consultative approach that genuinely represents our members’ interests. To this end, the AEAWA have scheduled meetings with our legal team to ensure whatever strategy we deploy going forward will ensure the maximum possibility of success.
If you receive an unwanted call from UWU and wish to stop further contact, please email them at [email protected] requesting removal of your details from their database.
